i enjoyed this book and the connection to the men and women at Hope Eternal ranch. Spencer is fighting hurts and wounds from his past, but is ready to move on to his future. Carissa has dreams of leaving her farm in Nowhere Texas and being a chef at a big city restaurant. As they restart a relationship that ended 9 years ago, they both have to decide if love is worth the risk. When Spencer's dad returns and threatens to cause problems, Spencer realizes that he is a different man and is not like his father. I love the support and encouragement he receives from all the men and women at Hope Eternal as they help him through this hard time. I look forward to the next book in this new series. Nice story. Characters are 'real'. Faith is not overt, but is hinted at often. The main characters have a history but it doesn't pervade the entire book like many books of this genre: there is actual communication and a new relationship developed.The whole series is refreshing: The mens' recovery from prison life is expertly described, detailed, and believable. The other men in the series had that common background; yet unique approaches to their problems. The camaraderie at the Hope Eternal Ranch is priceless! The guidance and confidence it gives each individual is an example to us all on how to be a good friend or family member.The only inconsistency I felt between the books was that this main character was 'the' Uncle Spencer in the first few books. He took care of and interacted with all the kids. I missed that natural part of his personality of the last two books. In the previous book I remember waiting for an occasional text with the older ones, a birthday party, or even a visit to the ranch in this book. (I hope you'll read the whole series to see if I'm remembering this incorrectly: I know I will!)This book tied in with the relationships in the rest of the series well. I especially like the way the author deftly describes the connections formed in the previous books. If you've only read this book you'll still get a glimpse at the specialness that is Hope Eternal. If you read them all you may gain the confidence to grow through your own experiences: that's the power of a well written book.
